About Jackson Marine

Jackson Marine Sales was founded in 1954 by the late Bill Jackson. The first location was in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and expanded to additional locations in Baltimore and North East, Maryland. Bill, Jean and family would spend their winter months in sunny south Florida (living on a boat, of course) and it didn’t take Bill long to see the business opportunity of South Florida. He set up boat sales at the Sands Hotel & Marina in Pompano Beach. Their sales operation became a huge success and earned the honor of being the world’s largest dealer for Trojan Yachts and Chris Craft Cruisers. In 1987 the Jackson’s purchased a large boatyard in Fort Lauderdale known as Annapolis Yacht Basin.

The Timeline

1954 - Founded in Lancaster County, PA

1958 - Established a Maryland location in
Charlestown, MD and assisted in the
development of Wellwood Marina

1963 - Acquired 50% ownership of Shelter
Cove Yacht Basin in North East, MD

1971 - Purchased land on Middle River in Baltimore
and established a marina and sales location.
Operated as Sunset Harbor, a 200 boat Hi/Dry
Rack storage building opens in 2004

1977 - Acquired the remaining 50% ownership of
Shelter Cove and have made numerous
improvements since.

1980 - Opened a Sales location and leased a small
marina in Pompano Beach, Florida

1988 - Purchased at government auction a
boat yard and marina in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. Completed extensive renovations
including rack storage buildings for 275 boats.
